Inzucht: is commonly defined as the mating of organisms that are related through common ancestry.
In Zucht: refers either to the action of breeding offspring or to the condition of a population, whose reproduction is controlled, with an underlying goal of producing specific genetic mutations.
The IN ZUCHT FESTIVAL now in its third year, is a self-organized platform for showing new works made by the students of the BA in Dance, Context, Choreography of the HZT Berlin. This year’s festival edition (the first to feature the BA program’s maximum capacity of 45 students) will explore dance in as many formats as we could think of: from polished performances to fresh works-in-progress, from installations and films to artist talks and impromptu interventions. A festival that cross-pollinates the serious and the playful, the theoretical and the practical, the individual and the communal. Dance to be experienced, to be thought and talked about, and that emerges as something new. Get moving to IN ZUCHT!
Inbreeding is especially useful to obtain desired characteristics in a breeding line. It removes deleterious genes, and fosters the expression of genes that allow a population to adapt to the ecosystem it is living in. However, inbreeding also increases the likelihood of certain hereditary defects. The IN ZUCHT FESTIVAL straddles these two extremes, bringing student works into the light of public view. We invite you to come and inspect the beehive, and at our own risk, we are opening up our still fertilising , fragile concepts for discussion. If the experiment works, then the student bee colony, which has a tendency to be somewhat incestuous, will form a mutually fruitful relationship with its surroundings, and move forward inspired and rejuvenated.

Das IN ZUCHT FESTIVAL geht in die dritte Runde! Das Festival ist eine selbst organisierte Plattform für neue Arbeiten der Studenten des Bachelorprogrammes Tanz, Kontext, Choreographie am HZT Berlin. Die diesjährige Ausgabe – das Festival findet erstmals mit der drei Jahrgänge umfassenden Zahl von 45 Studenten statt- zeigt Tanz in einer Vielfalt von Formen: ausgefeilten Performances, Work in progress, Installationen, Filme, Künstlergespräche und Interventionen. IN ZUCHT kreuzt Ernst und Spiel, Theorie und Praxis, Individualismus und Kommunismus. Herzlich willkommen zu IN ZUCHT!
Inzucht ist einerseits nützlich, um in einer Zuchtlinie erwünschte und vor allem neue Charakteristiken hervorzubringen. Sie erlaubt das Abschwächen von beschädigten Genen und fördert Gene, welche die Anpassung einer Population an ihren Lebensraum erlauben. Inzucht erhöht aber auch die Wahrscheinlichkeit des Auftretens von krankhaftem Erbmaterial. Das IN ZUCHT FESTIVAL versucht den Spagat zwischen diesen beiden Extremen und bringt die Arbeiten von Studierenden ans Licht der Öffentlichkeit. Wir laden zur Besichtigung des Bienenstocks und nehmen das Risiko auf uns, das noch in Zucht Begriffene, Fragile zur Diskussion zu stellen. Gelingt das Experiment, tritt das tendenziell inzestuöse Bienenvolk der Studierenden in eine Beziehung der gegenseitigen Befruchtung mit seiner Umgebung.
